Service Description
As we make our way through autumn and into winter, students will work through a seasonal nature study course with environmental science components, focusing on different topics each week. We will begin every class reading together to introduce the new topic, followed with writing/ copy work/ dictation in our nature journals, and doing related art projects or sensory experiments throughout the semester. As we explore the how’s and why’s of our ever changing natural world, students will gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be nature’s neighbor. *Materials are included in the cost of this class. Class Schedule: Week 1 9/8- Harvest moon Week 2- 9/15- Seeds Week 3- 9/22- Autumnal Equinox Week 4- 9/29- Fire ecology Week 5- 10/6- Minibeasts Week 6- 10/13- Fungus, lichen, moss Week 7- 10/20- Autumn ponds Week 8- 10/27- Water pollution Week 9- 11/3- Trees Week 10- 11/10- Autumn harvest Week 11- 11/17- Migrating birds Week 12- 11/24- No class Week 13- 12/1- Weather & Climate change Week 14- 12/8- Winter plants Week 15- 12/ 15- Winter solstice All supplies needed for this course are included in the course fee. About the Instructor: Julia has a degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in middle school math and science. She established and ran a home daycare for eight years, and ventured into homeschooling fall 2020.
Cancellation Policy
We keep our classes small to enhance learning outcomes. Because of this, it is important that our classes are filled up with students that are committed to the class. If you have questions about a class, please contact us prior to signing up to make sure the class will meet your expectations. Classes can ONLY be dropped within the first two weeks of the semester. There is a $65 fee if dropped within the first week of class. There is an $80 fee if dropped within the second week of class. The remaining balance after dropping will be refunded. Classes CANNOT be dropped after the second week of scheduled classes. After the second week of scheduled classes no refund will be given. To drop a class please email iphglearning@gmail.com IPHG reserves the right to cancel any class. In the event IPHG cancels class is canceled before beginning, a credit to be applied for future semesters will be given. Credit will be for the value of the canceled class.
