About Us

Your Homeschool Community

Irving Park Homeschool Group began as a meetup group at Independence Park Playground. During these weekly meetups a group of homeschooling parents began discussing their ideal homeschool community–namely, a community that pools the talents and passions of its parents to meet the diverse needs of its students. Quickly realizing that such a group did not exist in the city of Chicago, we decided to make our vision a reality. IPHG is the fruit of that vision. With the help of parents in the community, IPHG is committed to creating a homeschool community within which each child can flourish.

Our mission is to promote creativity, foster academic excellence, and build community in Chicago. Our parent and organizational partnerships allow us to provide a variety of classes and enrichment opportunities for students age 6-14. We offer two semesters of classes: a fall semester beginning in September running through mid December, and a spring semester beginning mid January running through April. We offer an enrichment program on Tuesdays from 9am-1:30pm, a nature studies program on Wednesdays from 10am-1:30 PM, and a

la carte classes on Thursday. IPHG is a place for all homeschooling children and their families. We invite you to join us!

Our Core Educational Values

Experience – At IPHG we believe that learning occurs through experience. Be it  projects, activities, discussion, or play, we put experience at the center of our courses.

Creativity – All our classes center on promoting the creativity of our students. We firmly believe that students learn best through creative expression and that it is through creative expression that a student’s individuality develops and shines.

Community – It is within and through our communities that we are formed as individuals. IPHG is founded on the belief that by pooling the diverse knowledge, talents, passions, and experiences within our community, we can enhance the learning opportunities of all our students. We also promote community in the classroom through collaborative work and group activities.

What We Offer
