In this class, children will learn various practices for healthy living. We will study the types of macronutrients (fats, carbs, and proteins) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), how to make healthy food choices, and how various forms of exercise affect the body. Throughout the semester, students will be given the opportunity to plan meals and create those meals in class in our kitchen. Students will record their food choices in their food log. We will also study and practice various forms of exercise. At the end of the course, students will have a better understanding of how their body works, the importance of nutrition in their daily life, and how to develop and implement healthy eating and exercising habits.
