CLASS TOPICS: MATH GAMES AND EXPLORATIONS Instructor: Christine Lancaster Course Description: Let's bring math to life through puzzles, games and real-world explorations! Math Games and Exploration will cover topics like patterns and geometry, logical reasoning and probability, number sense and mental math. Student will turn problem solving into play by working on a range of individual skills, teamwork tasks, and whole class challenges. A perfect class for both kids who love math and those who need a confidence boost! ​ ANCIENT MYTHS FROM AROUND THE WORLD Instructor: Lynn Gilbertsen Course Description: In this class, we’ll read ancient myths from Greece, Mesopotamia, Korea, Egypt, and Scandinavia, and elsewhere in the world. We’ll do hands-on projects and create artwork to make sense of the stories and help them come to life. We’ll also compare and contrast myths that share certain themes or characteristics including creation myths, afterlife myths, trickster myths, and transformation myths! When appropriate, we’ll also see how and where these myths and their themes and characters show up in popular culture today.
